A Fresh Start

2019 Intentions | Evermore Paper Co.

I love how the new year provides an opportunity for a pulse check. A chance to look at the relationships we have with our self, others and our environment to determine what’s working and what’s not. I never like to think of the new year as a magic button that instantly transforms us into the person we want to be, but rather as an opportunity to refocus our energies and reevaluate our needs.

I’ve been doing just that with Evermore during these first few weeks of 2019 and must say I’ve got a pretty long to do list for the year ahead. I’m challenging myself in new ways and working to create a plan that I can commit too, because let’s be honest, it’s easy to skip deadlines when you’re the boss.

Each year I like to create a list of intentions to help keep me focused and remind me of what’s most important. They provide the foundation for everything I do and as I start to put some of my plans into action for the year, I thought it was appropriate to share this year’s list, which I also keep tacked to my inspo board.

As for those big plans? Here’s a quick list of what you can expect to see in 2019:

  1. More product releases (I’m shooting for 4 this year!)

  2. A tiny brand and website refresh

  3. And last, but certainly not least, more blog posts and freebies!!!

I can already tell it’s going to be a good year and am so excited to share it with you!

My Best Business Advice

This past Sunday marked the five year anniversary of when I first launched Evermore on Etsy. I can’t believe how quickly this time has flown by and it has me feeling nostalgic for those earlier days and how I wish I knew everything then, that I know now.

Of course that would take all the fun out of this journey, right? I often get so caught up in the day-to-day that I forget to acknowledge just how far this little business of mine has come. To think that I basically had zero graphic design and photography skills when I first started is beyond astonishing. Seriously, what place did I have starting a stationery business?

The answer is actually very straightforward. My heart was in it and I loved paper products. I believed that as long as I was designing products that were a reflection of myself and something I would use personally, then the rest would fall into place. And slowly and surely it has.

So there you have it! My best advice for anyone just getting started (and a good reminder for those a few years in, like me) is to be true to yourself and trust your instincts. I believe that if you do this, others will take notice of your passion and be more inclined to become fans themselves. It's one of the core principles of my business and a reason why my work has evolved so much since the beginning. It is 100% a reflection of me and my interests and as I change and grow, so does it.

Thanks so much for being a supporter and allowing me to share a part of myself with you. As a reminder, the anniversary sale continues through the end of today with 20% off everything. Enter code HIGHFIVE at checkout.
