Work in Progress

Popping in to share a little update on my new collection. If you follow along on instagram you may have seen a few sneak peeks here and there and know that I've been testing out all sorts of new techniques. It's been exciting to have time to experiment like this, but in the midst of doing so, I have become incredibly indecisive over my next steps (as I mentioned here). I had hoped to have a ton of new items in the shop by now, along with a fancy new catalog and a little website update, but it seems like those things keep getting pushed further and further off.

To be honest, I was starting to feel quite down about it all and my mind started swirling with all these negative thoughts ("You're a failure!"). Rather then succumb to the depths, I've taken it as a challenge to work even harder, because the truth is, I've not failed at all, not even a single bit. All it took was the realization that I had set completely unrealistic expectations for myself. Once I adjusted those, it became much easier to start moving forward again. So I'm back to toiling away and getting closer to having some new items for you soon! You can sign up for my newsletter below to stay in the know.

In the meantime, I found this quote and the subsequent post from Molly Jacques really relevant. Enjoy and TGIF!

Holiday Sketches

sketchbook // evermore paper co.

One of the most difficult aspects of being in the stationery biz for me has been thinking 3-6 months in advance of the holidays. Working on holiday designs in June and summer designs in December just does not come naturally for me. I'm slowly improving at working months out, but I think it's something that may always feel a little awkward. With that said, here's a peek at some of the holiday designs I've been working on. Please note the summer florals creeping in on the winter foliage. Oh, and that random cactus! Like I said, it's a work in progress.

The entire collection will be available in the shop next week.

Sneak Peek: Botanical Delight

8-29-Sneak-Peak.jpg

Here's a sneak peek of a new line of products that I'm currently working on for the shop that will be coming in October. Without giving too much away just yet, I'll start by saying that it's not a greeting card. In addition, I provided a little glimpse into my creative process. I often start by loosely sketching out my design in Photoshop using a pen tablet. Then using new layers, I'll slowly refine the drawing. It's a meticulous process, but the end results are well worth it.
