I'm on a huge apple kick right now (who isn't?) and can't seem to get enough of them. Already, I've baked two apple-inspired treats, here and here, and I made a promise to myself that I would attempt to bake my first pie this season. All this talk of apples has got me thinking about how fun it would be to throw an apple picking affair following a day at the orchard. I'm envisioning apple cider hot toddies and a make-you-own caramel apple bar. Also, plaid picnic blankets and striped straws would help round out the decor and you could expect to find me wearing my favorite flannel shirt. You could even ask guests to bring their favorite apple dish and stage a little bake-off. Yummy!
This week's Treat Yourself Friday is coming to you in bite size form. Because I have a weakness for all things mini, I immediately pounced on this cake pop maker a few years back. For only $20, it's the best kitchen investment I've ever made. In addition to the cake pop recipes, there are several awesome donut hole recipes. In the spirit of autumn, I decided that the apple cider version would be the perfect compliment to a festive weekend ahead. The cinnamon sugar coating is to die for and I'm looking forward to enjoying them alongside a hot cup of tea or maybe even some hot cider.
Have a sweet weekend!
This week's edition of "Treat Yourself Friday" is packing some serious flavor. While the combination of rosemary and apple was enough to convince me to try this recipe, what surprised me even more was the added hints of nutmeg and honey. This resulted in a treat that was savory, sweet, buttery and spicy all at once. Talk about a flavor explosion! I really don't think it gets much better than that. Unless, of course, you top it all off with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Have an indulgent weekend!
